Vallonia… The Chupacabra continued their march to the playoffs, walking over the Vallonia BeaverHunters 27-6 in today’s action.
“Whhooooooo…smell it baby…That’s playoffs, baby. All we gotta do is check a few fools and we in the dance baby,” declared linebacker Demetrius McQueen, gyrating to a boombox in the San Jose dressing room after the game.
The Chupacabra certainly looked like a playoff team, confidently moving the ball on offense and playing gritty, hard nosed defence in the win. With the offense finally having seemed to turn a corner, the Chupacabra are clicking on both sides of the ball.
“The offense is running smoother than ever. You see it in practice, you see it on the field,” said centre Bubba Beaujangles, “We running on all cylinders. And with the defence playing the way it is this season, I think we’re a contender.”
The story of the San Jose defence has been a headline all year. Ranked near the bottom of the league last season, the unit has made a complete turn around under the leadership of defensive coordinator Jake Rawburst. The defence came up big again today, with two fourth quarter interceptions to cool an attempted Vallonia rally.
The Chupacabra next face the Boston Boogie Monsters, the last place team in the conference.
