Except that you run into stamina restrictions because the game is built to have backups needed in order to be good.

Then don't reduce your roster if you are worried about stamina. People who want smaller rosters can have them now and people who like the current set up can have that now also. No need to change anything. Everyone gets to reap the benefits and weakness of their choice.

Getting your players on the field more involves having less backups. The game revolves around the need for backups because in order to apply enough stamina needed to go an entire game at a position like WR and still be a high caliber player you would not have a high caliber build anymore. It has nothing to do with personal choice. Unless your personal choice is to suck.

Exactly. But if someone wants to see their dot more, no need to impose restrictions on those who want to accomplish the team objective over the personal objective.

Um... I'm a bit confused here. Isn't the OP asking for mandatory reductions of team roster limits and not just simply having less dots on a team... because we can do that already, can't we? Simply sign less dots and not fill the team up? Or is there a penalty for not having a full roster???

If the userbase slime down more I could see benefits to smaller roster
