Didn't see another suggestion for this. Pretty basic- We have check boxes in the inbox already, why not add a Mark as Read button so you can just check messages off as read.
Would be a lot faster than clicking each message to clear it out and i don't always want to delete them, sometimes just the subject is enough (signings for example).
