Sliders will not help without a complete overhaul of ST. When A KO goes to the side, the returner frequently runs up the sideline, but the BW blockers run to the middle leaving the returner defenseless. ST is so frustrating that I will never again build a returner.

no one within 15 yards, ball actually hits the ground, should not even possible to call a fair catch

hmm, what is the actual rule if you call a fair catch, it hits the ground and you are the 1st to touch it? i cant recall every seeing that in real life.
i really hate how the xp/fg replays have no bearing on the actual kick itself. we've had guys on top of the placeholder all season and yet to block a kick. why add the replays if they are 100% fake?

Like... in REAL football? If you call a fair catch and then touch it after it hits the ground, as long as you "catch" it and secure it off the bounce (or turf), then it's dead where you stand, pilgrim.
But if you bobble the "catch"... whether it's off the bounce OR just trying to make the regular fair catch, then it's every man for themselves... cuz dat's a live ball. (I've recovered a few of those... it's fun!!! NOT!

well couldn't they just take a knee in real life any way stopping all forward progress?

Yer thinking kickoffs, not punts. With punts, if you don't signal a fair catch, then whomever touches the ball is a target and fair game. Ever see when a catch is muffed? The guy falls on the ball and lays there while everybody dives on top of him. Even though he's prone on the ground, technically the "play" is still live until a whistle is blown and the refs ain't gonna bow the whistle until somebody touches (tackles) the man with the ball.

I thought this was about calling it, not catching it.
The incidence of dropped fair catches not prompted by a foul on the kicking team is so low that I would hesitant to add it to GLB. It would add only rarely to the experience if it worked properly and more likely it would happen far too often and become infuriating.
But making fair catching a tactical choice would be cool.
