If moderators all did their job correctly, this suggestion wouldn't be needed

.... in all seriousness though, I wouldn't mind some sort of button that asks for an appeal... but what would probably happen is that AY locked thread would get appealed and the other mods would end up with a whole bunch more work

perhaps if they added something where one user frivolously asking for appeal on threads could have the ability taken away it would work

If you appeal and the appeal fails, you lose your appeal and get charged with a time out... NFL rules are everything in GLB!

Yeah but you still have 1 more appeal and who would review it on scoring threads or threads in the final 2 minutes.

Locked scoring threads would be automatically reviewed by a Lead Moderator and no other threads on the Scoring topic may be created until such time.

Threads in the final two minutes won't matter because there's only two minutes left before the end of GLB.

What about where the only person who could appeal is the OP? That would eliminate the super spamage and also bring the heart of the matter to the table. Others might post in a thread... but only the OP truly knows the heart behind their post, and therefore would also be most able to convey WHY the lock should be lifted.
