Forum > Goal Line Blitz > Stopping Screen Passes? (Rookie)
Link

Just came back to the game after awhile of off-time.

I'm head coaching a Rookie Team and we just keep getting murdered on screen passes.
I can't seem to figure out a way of stopping them and neither can our DC.

Any tips, strategies, or suggestions are welcome.

If everyone is in man coverage and falls back on the WR, they will all just run deep.

Blitzing from the outside will stop sweeps and screens at that level, imo.

Alternatively you can put a DE in the flats, but that might hurt your hurry pressure.

My apologies, I was referring more to HB/FB Screens. We seem to do a good job at stopping WR Screens.

Do the things you listed still apply?

zone defense but then you will probably get killed by non screen passes

also adding to strength on your corners to help get off blocks if you really want to stop them in man coverage

don't do any of that at rookie

putting a DE in flat is probably your best bet, and safeties out wide
