Have I just never noticed this before, or is this unusual?

In slow mo, that replay looks like the WR1 gets a quick look before the TE is targeted the 1st time. Is that just the Qb vision line moving or is it a WR1 target?

BTE, Wr1, TE, WR1, BTE, TE

That's not 5 different receivers

Quick Read firing?

Sounds like he was going through his progressions. I'd even wager the setting was BTE, Wr1, and TE only. After he looked at his last target (let's assume from left to right) he then reversed because it's easier (scan from left to right, then back to left... rather than scan from left to right, then left to right again).
And it could be he simply "passed over" the Wr1 as he was going on to his next assigned target... to know that we'd have to know how the progressions was set up in the first place. (unless that's what you have posted at the bottom of your post.)

The TE threw up the "I'm Open" sign, that throws progressions out the window.

and it goes BTE, TE, WR1, BTE, WR1, TE. But the 2nd dip on WR1 looks like it's just the line moving from one side of the field to the other. Iirc the QB can glance at a guy on his way from one progression to the next.

Thanks Fu. I rarely slow replays down like that, so it looked odd to me.
