Hey guys, just wondering if I could get any insight as to why my RB has been absolutely horrific the end of last season through the current season? Through 4 games, he is averaging 1.1 yds per carry and has a measly 62 yds through 4 games.

This trend started mid way through last season. Is there something in his tactics I should be changing? Ive been trying to move his Elusive slider all over, never using Super Elusive, but have tried everywhere from 0 to 98.

Im at my wits end, opposition RBs are tearing it up, but he gets killed.

Seriously? Jumping...

I actually planned on working Jumping a little to help avoid diving tackles, but does it really warrant much more than a luxury spot in the build?

5'6 180...conf less than 20....avoid a diving tackle in range at tackle angle....read hurdle. Chances %, juke and track star. Line of sight also plays in. Beat the angle with brkn tackle or an ankle break move--jump

I wouldn't screw with your build plan much. Your OC sucks. 15 points in 4 games tells you it's not your RB's fault. I wouldn't bother with Jumping until you get everything else where you want it.

I agree with this advice as well.

Build looks okay to me, although I'd consider going with Slippery as your next VA... heck, I'd even reset the points out of Track Star and Hometown Hero at season's end to move them over to Slippery. Strength is a little lower than I'd prefer, but not fatally so. Assuming you have a build plan that doesn't suck (and your Effective Level being +5 tells me your build plan doesn't suck), it's probably worth just sticking with your build plan.

Looking at the team your HB is on, I see you're the owner, so that gives you options. I just ran the Effective Level script on your league and your team is #5, so clearly your team's builds are just fine. When I see a team that high up in Effective Level but that low in the standings, that tells me the problem is coaching. And as mentioned above, 15 points in 4 games just ain't gonna cut it on offense.

I'm not too good with passing, but looking at your ground game, I have a few suggestions:

- Scrap the Counters. They can be pretty effective against lulzy teams, but any decent-to-strong D will mostly shut down counter plays, aside from the occasional lucky broken tackle. Thing is, ANY play can go for a big gain from a lucky broken tackle, so that alone is just not a good enough reason to keep a play in your playbook. You want plays that are more consistent in their output, and Counters are the opposite of consistent. Cut them.

- Hold back on the Inside QB runs and Off-Tackle QB runs. Your team's rushing QB is a speedster through and through, but with only 16.74 Strength, he shouldn't be even DREAMING of running between the tackles, or even off-tackle. Let your QB run, but do outside QB runs only.

- More Weak I runs. A lot of teams struggle to stop Weak I runs for some odd reason, especially the Dives.

- More inside runs in formations that have the FB out there, and fewer inside runs in formations that don't have an FB. Having the FB as a lead blocker is a big help on inside runs, especially if the other team uses a 4-man defensive front against a given formation. (You are scouting your opponent's defense before each game to look for things like that, of course... right???) You'll still want some inside runs in no-FB formations of course, just to keep opponents guessing. But when I scout your O, I see WAY too many inside runs in Single Back, Trips, and Spread, and if those are the formations that form the core of your inside running game, you're gonna be running uphill all game long. You have a blocking FB on the roster. Use him.

- Get tricky with your personnel. I didn't get too deep into this, but I'm seeing a certain amount of predictability with your personnel and how it tips off your play-calling. Toss in some curveballs with your personnel and play-calling... nothing too crazy, but just enough to make people guess so it's harder for them to sell out on D.

Hope this helps ya!

Your Single back Trips numbers, rushing to the outside:

Outside Rush 18 TDs 0
Yards -12.5 Avg -0.69
First Downs 0 TFL 12
TDs 0
Gains 0 Pct

By The way, all strong side where you have no blockers. This is most likely your culprit.

cause your OC sucks, your build is on a good pace. DOnt listen to that jumping non sense. And your strength isnt low, youre only level 47. Youre on a good pace. Stick to your plan, dont worry about numbers. Find a new team in the offseason. And like said above, fix your VAs. As for rushing slider, Id use 99 elusive. And when you reach pros, move to 100.

Thanks a ton Novus.

As many have pointed out, our OAI sucks, but we are kinda screwed there for now. Our OC has had real life health issues off and on, and has been Awol since preseason. The OAI got us killed in the 1st 2 games, so we have been trying to find an OC with no bites. In the mean time, Ive been putting in very simple attempts and knocking off the rust as OC. But, I just don't have time to do it as I like, so its been crap. Our roster is very well built IMO, but the lack of an OC is killing us.

When you found your RB perform bad, you should first check your play call.
Bad play fail before play even start.
Then check your blocker.
If your blocker suck, your RB will suck, too. No matter how good build he is.
Build is the last thing concerned.

I'd say the main issue is no brk tkl?

Also, elusives take time to grow... pHB's are pretty much good after the 1st offseason.
