If this feature already exists for free players, just make it available for all players. problem solved. Start with the oldest players and work down, and if you run out of flex, that is your problem if you select more players than you have flex. We do not need to muddy things up when simple solutions are staring us right in the face.

In the past a lot of discussion was given about people missing boosts etc in the seasons and not being able to make it on that day etc and this was Bort's stance:

Basically the small gain in benefit from waiting until day 48 to boost instead of boosting a few days early is pretty small, and is covered up by the way the player is built. Build style, training breakthroughs, and AEQ rolls are a much bigger part in the overall build. Missing boosts was addressed by allowing people to have the 3 make-up boosts at the end of their career. The end of the season is well announced.
