I don't mind that because technically you allowed the catch, but it's hard to evaluate coverage LBs when a screen they can do nothing about counts against them.

You've seen dots deflect screen passes before, it's just rare. LBer coverage stats do suck because it though.

Would be nice to have yards allowed stat to go along with catches allowed. the catch registers, the yardage gain registers. Seems fairly straightforward that yards allowed could be included with receptions allowed.

Here's a screen pass being defended the right way:

probs a real good strategy to defend screens w/ the low catching guys. Just own them w/ a LHF INT CB

Just curious but due to the abundance of "allowed" just what IS the radius of the particular event for it to be credited to a dot? I'm thinking it's a bit too big IMO. Any dot that isn't within around 3 yards of the receiver probably shouldn't get hit with an "allowed". I can remember giving as much as a 5 yard cushion to entice QB's to chuck it into my area... but not more than that because it's just too hard to make up the difference in yardage on a moving target. (note: you allow for less when closer to the LOS because the pass arrives quicker.) This is speaking from my experience as a safety though... not as a CB.

I think it's anyone who is actively attempting to cover that receiver, not necessarily related to distance.

That was maybe the third decent sized thread discussion on it...
Lost cause by that point, never mind now.

Then that really sucks. We have "tackle radius" in the game... and "hurry radius" in the game... would think this would make sense to have it for coverage stats.
