When playing a QB rushing team, I want my DEs to cover the flats. So I set the tactics to 100% Run, 100% Outside, 100% Zone and I turn off the auto coach feature. Yet, they still go at the O-Line head on and get pancaked leaving the ouside edge open putting all the pressure on the spying LBs to stop the QB. Any suggestions on how to make them cover the flats like they should in a Zone defense?

I haven't tried the Tagged preset but does that put the DEs into the flats against a rQB?

Pretty sure this is the culprit. If you go 100% pass, almost positive the DE's will move to the flat. I am guessing they do this under pass defense as a deterrent to screens, but I think it will give you the result you are looking for against rushing QB's.

Yes. The only time I actually will trust the tagged preset is vs a rQB or Wildcat team. Spying just does not work well IMO.

Well that didn't seem to work either. Sure you did not have a default defense setting in your insta scrim settings?
I will test it out for you with my pro team.

No presets for insta scrims. Does it have something to do with running a 3-4?

Yes I would love to know how to get this to work. I'm sick of having a defense that can stop most anything but can never stop a damn outside rushing QB... Its a damn glitch I tell ya

That's part of the problem. I DC a casual team and when we run a 3-4, I have never seen the DE's in the flats.
If you set 100% PASS (I know it doesn't make sense) /100% short/100% zone, you will see your OLB's heading to the flats most plays. It works well against outside runs, although at the rookie level everything is a crapshoot.

is a 3-4 better to run against a team that passes heavily? I have the personnel to run both a 4-3 and a 3-4, just trying to decide which is better. how about against a balanced team that does a lot of both? which defense is suggested in these situations?
