Like I said, With 90+ Vision, the FS should know which way the Back is running.

Why?

The safety has to SEE the run. Why should 90+ vision mean the FS instantly knows (and w/o fail) that the play is a run and exactly where it is going?

Anyway you can it, The FS shouldn't be running the wrong way here.

On the one hand, I see what Romo's saying... even a 90+ Vision guy is going to miss a play recognition roll once in a while.

But what is "once in a while"? Was this the only play all game where this particular dot blew a read so badly? (If so, eh, deal with it. Nobody's perfect in football.) Or was this particular FS blowing reads like this all game long? (If so, yeah, something's wrong with the game mechanics, because a 90+ Vision guy shouldn't be blowing large numbers of reads every game.)

Regardless, go watch the play. Even if it's the only play all game long where the FS blew a read, It still just looks weird to me.

From sehorns posts to me it just looks like the biggest problem was pursuit angles. They are god awful. When a RB is still behind the LOS they suck. The angles arent too bad once he cross the LOS. As for the play where the FS goes the other direction, I imagine he was playing his zone first as the created play indicates then he sees the run and goes after it. SO dont see an issue with it really. Id like teh pursuit angles fixed though.

~90 vision is pretty weak for a safety. I have built more safeties than any other position... I am not satisfied with their play recognition until at least 95 vision (+SV). Even those dots miss a roll now and then. That play looks like he misses a couple initial vision checks then gets blocked. Bad luck, but not something I would fault the game for.

Sunder B's post however shows exactly what annoys me with safety pathing. The way they will run upfield to chase a back who is moving behind the LOS is infuriating, it puts them out of position every time when the back eventually turns the corner.

That's my FS on the play, and I agree with skeels' take. He misses a few vision checks so he drifts left to cover the WR. Happens once in a while. The bigger problem is safeties inexplicably crashing the middle of the line on outside runs, which is a pursuit angle issue.

And his vision is only meh because he's 4 AEQ.

I've not seen any fouled up play by either the FS or SS.
