One of the reasons the Minors get such a bad rap is due to the way teams are sorted in the off season. Far too often good teams don’t make the playoffs and are sent to another league where they win that league with no problem. On the surface this appears to be the right direction to go; if you can’t make the playoffs, you probably don’t belong.
The problem is if you make it far enough in the playoffs in the Competitive League or Regular League for your age bracket, you get the chance to play in Elite the next season. Winning in a league that contains mostly CPU teams or League Underground teams does not mean you belong in Elite. These teams are moved into Elite and become easy wins for the previous playoff teams.
This just creates a cycle of teams moving into Elite for a season and being shipped off because they were never good enough to be there in the first place. In the mean time, teams that could have been competitive are pushed to leagues where they are bored most of the season because they face teams that don’t have a chance to beat them due to unfilled rosters, under leveled teams, or they don’t have knowledgeable coordinators to help them.
There are simple factors that can be looked at to tell how well a team will do that next season in the Minors and probably even Regional Pro:
1. Effective Level
2. Previous Team Record
3. Number of Players on roster
Each offseason in the Minors, the age brackets change and all the teams move up to the next level. This currently happens on Day 42, but being in your set league on Day 42 means nothing expect maybe some small quantity of forum posts about the upcoming season.
Using the criteria above, GLB Admins can rank teams properly and on the night of Day 48 into Day -8 all of the teams can be placed into the correct league where they belong.
This will ensure all of the leagues have competitive games throughout the season. Yes, Effective Level doesn’t mean your team is good; this will be shown in your team record from that season. Yes, Effective Level can be manipulated by roster size and players; this will be shown in the number of players on the roster.
Not only will this change encourage competitiveness at the lowest level, but with similar teams faced each season; this will create new rivalries. The majority of a dots career is spent in the Minors where most of the teams don’t care what happens.
It’s time GLB tries to improve this stage of the game.

I wish all teams at each age just went into an age based cloud and then sorted into league just prior to making schedules. I have never understood why some have insisted on knowing what league they are in on day 42. With age based leagues, it should not matter.
