if a tackle is missed due to a hurdle, can the tackler still hold on/be dragged? logic would assume not, but there is definitely something slowing the ball carrier immediately after the hurdle. can the hurdle itself cause the ball carrier to slow down or change his path or something? would change direction/quick cut improve this?

Probably just didn't break the diving tackle cleanly. Winning the roll better would most likely have helped. The angle of the tackler probably them his side as well. Don't think that was a drag. Drags generally seem a lot more easy to tell than that.

Yea a drag is when the defender 'shrinks' and at first it appears to be a missed tackle but quickly u reazlize a bum with 60 TKL just draged u down. They 'shrink' for a few ticks before actually making the tackle

but isn't the whole point of hurdle that the ball carrier leaped over the attempted diving tackler and avoided him altogether? if its just like breaking a tackle (colliding with the tackler and breaking free of the attempt through brute force) then why bother with hurdle rather than some other form of avoiding the tackle?

Because they don't always grab you?

Agree. Just cuz you executed a great "hurdle" doesn't mean the defensive player still can't make a great tackle despite that.

not clear what you're agreeing to... bhall's example shows a clean hurdle, and my previous example shows the either the diving tackler or the act of hurdling itself somehow slowing the ball carrier.

so my question is basically which is it? is it a build issue--like my dot needs more agility or something? is it a bug? should a hurdler NOT be slowed by hurdling?

Probably build issue. The Dot in my replay is a full grown PB while yours is only in the mid 30's. Probably a combination of carrying, strength, % Break Tackle, VA's, and jumping.
