Your dot is also exclusively a MLB. The dot Kboum is looking to build is an OLB that is already at the edge and doesn't need the extra speed to stop outside runs

Fair enough, although as the DC who first used strength LBs to counter blocking TEs, I've tried most combinations. The very high strength guy has pretty limited utility. He'll hold the point but that's only particularly useful on runs straight at him. He also can't help significantly if the blocking TE is in on a pass play. 100 strength is already enough to occupy the blocking TE, although you might get pushed back an extra yard or two, while the speed is a big benefit for shooting gaps or reacting to other parts of the field.

Only pancaked four times this season while being pretty disruptive against run blocking. He generally doesn't make the play himself but sets the edge and allows others to do so.

Thanks a lot jdbolick. Thats exaclty the type of player i'm trying to build. Not flashy, won,t have stats at all but when I watch the games I see him occupy blocking TE and disrup the run.

I'll go with more agility less tackling than this player but if you tell me its still working in higher league thats what I wanted to hear.

Completely agree. Wondering if you approach the build similar to a pass blocking OT with a good combo of strength, agility, and speed?

Less tackling and more agility is perfectly viable, you'll just want to play on wrap up tackling and not focus on fumble forcing.

As a DC I welcome a team holding a blocking TE in on a pass play. I'd rather rush 4 on 6 than 3 on 5, and if a team decides to send the blocking TE on a route then a big slow LB is the perfect candidate to cover him.

I think 1 is enough but yeah I like the strength on the LOS too. To be honest I think First Step is a waste in such a dot when you could have Wall or something instead. When the other team's blocking TE isn't able to push anyone around they are just in the way. The force fumble stuff is a waste too unless you combine it with Monster Hit like jd's dot. I think of it as building a defensive lineman who can line up anywhere on the line of scrimmage, and chews up blockers at the point of attack so others can make the big hits.

I don't like DEs built that way any more either.

I know, but it's a similar situation. It got frustrating watching my DEs be too slow to do much besides hold their ground.

Do whatever Romo does for his Lbs on Asau.. They use their LB pretty well and they are prob their biggest reason for being as good against the run as they are.

sample question on your LB, what setting do you use.

On mine right now I'm at -90 agressiveness, I want him to disrup screens
run focus of course
combo pass rush (should I go power at my level ?)

Evasive. Power rushing sucks, unfortunately. The other settings sound good.
