I thought the #1 issue in this thread was game planning, time it takes, and it's too complicated to compete due to the effort needed in game planning. I was just pointing out it takes zero effort.

You also indicated low level dots don't function well if you planned on them being good at End Game. At least that's what I thought your WR example was meant for. I was showing that is also a false presumption.

It does take a lot of time, but I think most of GLB has stopped gameplanning every game like we used to and except for the very highest level, saves it for the playoffs. It's more a question of expertise though. I also disagree with your definition of good. We're not talking about a 1500 or even 1000 or even 750 yard season as the best receiver totals we've seen in 2 different age groups.

Game-planned passing is extremely effective at low levels right now, saying otherwise is ignorant.

university and regional minor are a rough couple of seasons for passing

Honestly, I think an adopt-a-rookie program would be better. The problem with this methodology is there is so much information, it may be weeks before it gives them information that they really understand. By that time, they may have decided to turn off the blasted tool, and already have several sucky dots. Sorry but these are the facts.

TBPH, those first 2 points are not wrong at all.

1. The first 3 seasons, you don't want to win. You want to build your player so that he can be successful down the line. For veterans of this game it's old hat, but just imagine telling a Warcraft player that until level 70 he's supposed to suck and get killed all the time so that he can be decent for end game. Then tell him, he'll need to suck for 120 calendar days. Please don't say, "I can make players that don't suck early, that are good for end game." Maybe that's true, but if it is you could probably build an even better player early. It shouldn't be one or the other.

In this day and age with computer games (hell, even console games), having a tier of non-production - wait until you're a year old! - type development of an avatar/dot/character is not going to draw a whole lot of attention or interest. Just how it is in the real world. Folks - new players - want some sort of instant gratification to draw them in and keep them playing. GLB does not offer that at all. Veterans are used to the slow ride. Newbies just bolt for greener pastures.

2. The rate of passing decline kills this game. Let's say, you make a WR or QB. Once you get to University and you pay all those points for 5 catches for 31 yards for the season is going to make you wonder why you bother (5 for 31 is about the pace most WR in University Elite #1 are at. I have no WR and no QB in the league so I'm not whining, just observing).

Not un-true. Making WRs in this game is like knocking your head against a wall. They cost the max and perform like crap for X-seasons. Why even bother?

Basically, the game as it is caters to veteran players and no noob wil break that barrier since it so damned boring at low levels and to be told to wait a year for anything resembling "production/watching dots work right" is just the complete antithesis for an online game now-a-days. Just makes the new player go away.

I don't have any solutions to that dynamic other than a complete SIM revamp which is never going to happen.

But, all in all, he's 100% right in those points.

Edit: Just take the whole ALG building dynamic and no points to SAs until L70 thing...it's 100% counter-intuitive to a "gamer." IE., just max the 1st-2nd-3rd-X atts and don't even bother adding to the "special skills" until you're a year in to the build.... Fail! Big time fail.

Just not going to attract a bunch of people with that mechanism.

We need this right now! Implement this before we lose all these new users. I know this would really help all those people that have been here 5 years and never learned to build a dot worth a shit as well.

You hit it on the head. Got to grab em fast, give em what they want right away. Otherwise the masses just aren't going to stay around for a year to play.
