Maybe when the rankings can't be gamed and/or people stop gaming them, it would be worth a +1. But since that will never happen -1.

That is some two wrongs make a right logic. If your problem with trophies for global rankings is gaming the system, GLB should prevent gaming the system or just get rid of the rankings completely.
