The GLB forums are among the worst I have ever encountered as far as how they are coded.

agreed. phpBB (especially with a custom CMS) is where it's at.

Wow. I read this whole thread. I know its been covered but the spoiler code you were so adamant about seems to be a version of collapsible text.

A "spoiler" is something that gives away key parts of a game, book, movie, whatever. A "spoiler code" is just how that site wants to hide their spoilers until the reader wants to see them. Some sites have their spoilers collapsed, some greyed out, some with another "click here to see" type code.

I vote +1 for being able to collapse text and having a "click to expand" option. Would make build threads, in depth posts, etc. Easier to manage. Currently, I made a thread, claim multiple posts, and then give each segment of whatever I'm typing its own post and then link to them in the op for quick navigation. Collapsible text could make this possible in one post instead.

He only called them "Spoiler Tags" because a lot of the forums that have collapsed text make the tag for it "Spoiler".

One site I used to frequent had collapsed text and blackout text.

The tags were
Collapsed Text
and [blackout]Blackout Text[/blackout]

I believe forums that use vBulletin do this by default, which is one the most popular forum platforms.
