Expand the custom O depth chart slots and D depth chart slots to include all OL spots, and all DL spots. This would allow coordinators to better utilize run blocking and pass blocking OL and vice versa with DL, run stuffing and pass rushing.
It would create better matchups along the lines on all downs getting run blockers against run stuffers (1st down, down and short yardage to go, ect.) and pass blockers against pass rushers (3rd down, down and long yardage to go, ect.). This would also allow for a better rotation and help get dots in spots that they were specifically created for.
It would add an extra dimension of AI where coordinators would try to exploit the other teams tendencies and get their OL/DL the advantage. If a team is always pass rushing on 2nd down no matter the distance, the OC might try to run a few more draw plays or quick handoffs inside with their run blockers on the field. On the other side of the ball if the defense sees a team with a heavy usage of inside runs and outside screens, they can get their big guys in the middle and their pass rushers on the edge to help cover the screen play out wide not taking the chance that the sim picks the right players in the right situations.
There are advantages and disadvantages on both sides of the ball and that is a good thing for the game making it more competitive and bringing another edge to coaching and teams that put in the time and the work.
