I've always wondered this and never asked. I'm not a offensive coordinator or anything so don't care but always surprised I never saw it. What is the penalty for a Offensive Tackle being used as a blocking TE. Is it that big that having a 350 pound run blocking OT isn't as good as having a blocking TE?

so random, I want to give a random answer

50% of the time 10% of people know exactly what the penalty is 50% of the time on even days but only 25% on odd days and 0% on days that end in Y but Bort knows for sure

in other words, no one but Bort (the game coder) knows for sure, but it is thought to be minimal for the OPP you describe, like 5% attribute penalty

My team only has 2 TEs but uses Goalline formation plays in our offense, so we have to use an OT as our 3rd TE. I actually use our fastest OT for that role, and while the OT is clearly the slowest and weakest of the 3 "TEs", he still holds up pretty well. So, I'd be amazed if the penalty was more than 10%.

Probably better to just use a TE at TE, but using an OT at TE is absolutely workable as long as the TE is just run-blocking. I'd hesitate to do so for pass-blocking, though, and I sure as hell wouldn't send the OT out on any passing routes.
