Heya guys, I know LBers have a penalty when they are on man2man coverage on WRs....does this apply to when they are covering TEs, HBs or FBs too?

Sometimes it seems like they are travelling in slow motion with lower vision/reaction time in coverage.

Is this something that is known/disproved/getting tested?

not sure if you are serious or .... there is no penalty on LB coverage on TE/HB/FB. a few off seasons ago focus was put on tightening up coverage cushions/behavior and more or less it's pretty good (on plateau dots).

i'd ask for links .. but thats really a bug ticket thing.

as for effectiveness, LBs tend to lose more than their fair share of coverage rolls but that has more to do with the build (and the way archetypes are at LB)

Well built TE's are very difficult to cover. Most of the issues arise with tactics. I would recommend compiling links and tatic settings prior to submitting a bug ticket for it. Without specific tactics or builds it would be difficult to find. I know i was involved with resolving some of the coverage issues on certain routes vs TE's. If you could provide examples id be more than happy to look into it.

There's no official penalty for an LB covering a TE, HB or FB -- the penalty is only if an LB is covering a WR. But as noted above, LBs just have different builds, different ALGs, and different SAs than CBs.

I haven't DC'ed in a while, but I was always hesitant to put an LB on a TE... I usually got better results by having a Safety or a CB cover TEs, while I used the LBs strictly for covering HBs and FBs. Just seemed to work better that way for me.

It's still not perfect, but the best dots I've seen for coverage on HB/FB/TE are high vision ones. When you can get ~160 speed/95+ vision going you get some good results.

well yeah

and to re-iterate ... it's not a sim thing. its a build/archetype limitation thing (unless you count that as part of the sim).

as best as possible, build your LBs like CBs; unlocking the appropriate bonus SA's. and then pray you can protect them in the run game (specifically BI and GL)

Just to add.....there are situations where a NT or DT can be brought out to cut the shallow crosses...Its tough but is not a big penalty with short yrd routes

I'm not sure that's actually true, though. Even if built almost identically, CBs are invariably much better in coverage than LBs.
