Currently, you can select plays sorted by position/type (HB inside run, FB outside run, WR short). I would like a similar function, but done by formation. So, for example, I could select the 'Strong I' button and all the current Strong I plays (both in playbook and those available) are viewable as a group.

Exactly. Why can't we have that option in the general playbook?

No not casual. Regular uses packages. When making a package you can choose option of plays from formation, then choose which formation.

When you use the playbook, just add all plays, and you are set. Don't think they have the option to create packages in casual, ay least they didn't when I had a casual team.

I use my Playbook... there's a fairly large number of plays that I don't use at all, so I'd rather not have them cluttering things up when I'm in a package and need to swap out a play.

So, I'll +1 this.
