Would all be added into the build. The idea is not that it would give them a great dot, it is that it would give them a dot they could start playing with to immediately allow them to interact with other users in the game. Maybe the dot auto-retires on day 40. Maybe Bort takes 10 minutes to write a script based on how Catch builds a dot, and at each day of a season, they mark up what that dot would be at for that given day of the season. It can't be that hard.

You see, the minute you tell a new user that the dot he created is worthless and needs retired or to tell them to wait 25 days until day 40 to play the game, you just lost a new customer. Period. I bet you maybe 1 out of 10 new users follow that tedious advice and actually sticks it out, where as the other 9 laugh and go find some other game.

This. This. This. A thousand times this.

Giving new agents a good-but-not-great dot to learn the ropes with is a fantastic way to hook them in.

+1 I don't see the downside. who cares if a vet creates a dot on day 35 that's 35 days old already? it's limited to the free dot and the veteran player is only building on d41 anyway

This.

I really dont think GLB or Warrior Games has any kind of marketing person. Its frustrating the way they do things. When thousands of potential dollars r at stake you think they would care more.

Gotta be careful what ya wish for. Not that I know what's going down at WG headquarters but I worked for a company some time back (before 9/11) that went from 1 shift and 100 workers to 3 shifts and 500 workers in less than 2 months. It was a complete disaster. Within the year, we had to fire over 300 people... then 100 more... then a few more... then the company collapsed because they simply weren't ready for that much growth in that short of time. I know other companies manage this ok... but not all. And if GLB is to grow that much, then it really needs to PLAN for it because it gets ugly quick when things go wrong.

Creating Dots at any level other than new, seems to be something Bort just doesn't want to do. It's possible to do so as the game currently sits, at least on the test server where Catch and whatever tester he gives the ability too, create Dots at levels needed for testing SIM changes. I can't seem to find any reason for not doing so, economics wouldn't change, you just price them as would be paid had the Dot grown from scratch, and the only thing that changes in playing the game is we don't have to wait a year to compete at the level we want to play. But, I've written Support on this and they are pretty solid that it's not going to happen. Hell, all I want to be able to do is replace the guy who died from heart attacks or whatever.

The only intention of allowing this is to benefit new players, period.

I'm not talking about creating level 79 dots, I'm talking about being able to create a player which will be auto leveled to catch up to the average dot of that day of the rookie season.

It would not benefit a veteran, as the dot would NOT be as good as one built from scratch, but it would benefit a completely new player in that they could jump into the game from day 1 and not have to wait to see if they even like the game.

I'll give it a +0.5... maybe limit it further to just the agent's FIRST dot.

I'll give it a +1.5 so it gets +2 total...
