Personally I dont like ELs all that much. People put way too big of an emphasis on it because its based around cookie cutter builds. My lower level EL CB has always out performed the higher level ELs. I used my free player to test a theory about speed on CBs. If you go above 150 speed, your EL will be higher, but my CB with 125 speed stays stride for stride with 150+ speed. So why waste the SPs just for the higher EL?

Took me 8 seasons to finally find an owner who didnt simply look at the EL and place my guy 5th on the DC. Last season he started and lead the team in INTs and receptions allowed %. But he's the lowest EL in the secondary and the slowest by 30 speed.

A lvl 79 with a 61 EL is garbage no matter how you slice it.

other than a center or perhaps a ST archetype no player should have a lower EL than actual level unless they are in decline

I can see that I guess. Even my CB who is level 79 is EL 80. Still lower than the rest, but higher than his actual level.

EL does not tell you if a build is great. It just tells you if a build is POOR. It is a tool that has a use, and that use is important.

Still, deez, may I ask you one thing? Are you sure you couldn't get your build with a higher EL?

No, I'm not sure. It was my free player and a test build. I didnt boost him on the right days or anything. I spent SPs as they came instead of waiting for next cap. His entire build was for the sole purpose to see if speed was that important for CBs. IMHO, I believe he has proved it is not. But thats just my opinion and many will argue, even though I have the replays to show differently.

I just assumed that his EL was lower because his speed was so drastically lower than his teammates. He has higher vision and catching than all the others but has the same everything else (lower tackling than some, but not all).

You see, you could instead have something like...

105 vision 95 agility 90 jumping 135 speed (post equipment) which could still easily get you the 1450ish build value and an EL of 84...

The beauty of the current system is that you can actually tailor one's build and still suit your needs

Try and check it out. You'll find that your player can get better and still maintain his configuration.

Yeah, I definitely will. The next Man Cover CB I make will be done that way.
