They are attention whores. If you made the offseason 30 days, they'd take 30 days. If you make it 10 days, they will decide quicker.

Its all irrelevant. Its too major of a change for NONBeta GLB. NGTH op, sorry.

Shortening the length of game inactivity that is a major factor in the deterioration of the user base is a major change? On what planet? It's not even a change to the game, it's a change to the dead time.

but speaking of irrelevant, so is your above argument. Remember Catch's definition of leaving Beta is no major SIM changes. This is not a sim change suggestion, so try again with your weak arguments against a good idea (in principle - not necessarily the way the OP states it).

The problem is that the offseason is too long WITH NOTHING TO DO FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T GAMEPLAN FOR OR OWN TEAMS.

THAT is the real problem, and it absolutely needs to be solved.

This.

I myself enjoy the break. Give the remaining masses mini games, etc. to pass the time if they're bored.

The 8 day offseason and 8 day preseason are really non negotiable imo. The 8 day offseason time allows coordinators a break from constant sim watching, owners to manufacture a roster and ability to manage a roster change with hopefully as minimal a hit to chemistry as possible, and agents keep a set flow of tokens and training points available to them. It also gives Catch/Mike/ee the ability to evaluate any small changes to the sim so that those changes roll over without major impact. The 8 day preseason time allows the same thing while also allowing coordinators to process said changes and tweak builds where need be.

The idea should center around creating more fun during that time for everyone. Not shortening that time because people have no patience.

Sunder doesn't get it though. He'd rather make a post saying he needs help recruiting for his team then do it all himself and blame GLB boredom because the offseason is too long.

Can't argue.

Because most very successful games have long periods where the user base can be inactive. This just means people forget and move on.

Most people I brought here got bored when there wasnt anything to do and left.

Less downtime in theory should keep people active and bring more users in thus having more people to fill roles and COord.

I need time away from the game. DAIs take way too long to set up as well. I realize it is boring for non coordinators but you can still have scrims. I often have more games during the offseason while I test new AIs and adjustments. I would probably take full seasons off if the offseason was shorter just to recover.
