I know it's here somewhere but what happens if your player is used opposite the arch you built ( exp, I built a blocking FB but the team is in need of a rusher so the owner moved me to that position. How is this going to affect my player since I'm locked into the run blocking VP tree)? Also, I'm only level 4 so I can use sp to fix a lot of things. Thanks for any info.

For one, don't spend SP on trees until level 64+.

For two(?), you can be a power rusher and not hurt your build by putting equipment into speed and your SP into strength. That way if you want to switch back to blocking later, you have the right build.

I'd build your blocking FB as normal, lol. If the owner wants to use your FB as a rusher while you get strength up, fine by him, but I wouldn't be quick to invest in things like carrying.

Trying to build a rushing FB out of a blocking FB archetype is just going to leave you with a mediocre mess, even if you go with a 'combo' route (guy who can block and rush).

Yeah if youre a blocker build to be a blocker. If the owner of the team on doesnt like it, then find a new team next season. Dont try to build him as both runner and blocker.

I really like using combo FBs, mediocre is good enough for both rushing and blocking FB, having them both in one player is a nice bit of versatility considering you rarely need either of them for more than a dozen snaps.

Edit: These other guys are right though, don't alter your build based on where he is on the depth chart this early in his career.

I'm all for being a rusher. I'll do whatever the team needs. I just want to make sure I'm not hurting the team long term by having the wrong archetype.

Talk to the OC and see what he's thinking, sometimes young dots get placed in weird slots due to team needs at the time.

There's no penalty for playing an archetype against it's build... only for playing OOP (out of position... like your FB playing HB or TE). That said, Romo nailed it. You'll hurt the team more (in the long run) by building mediocre dots caused by trying to adjust your build to fit a need. It's easier to simply slip a dot a little OOP and work with that than to kill the build by trying to change it. If your team has enough TE's, then one could play FB and fill that roll. Even a power HB would be better than messing up a build.

If at age 4 someone is altering a build in a completely different direction, by age 281 they'll be looking for a replacement.

Regardless of how selfless you were in your actions.
