i've got some young (age 80 right now) pure-pass rush CBs

they are fast and great vs passing plays, but on most running plays they wildly over-commit and keep chasing the QB long has handed off the ball, especially on inside rushing plays

my question is what would help them correct for this the most? is it vision to see what is happeing? agility to cut faster? both? something else?

Yes on the vision.

They have to break from their 'blitz' mode.

This is not the only means. I believe that if you reduce their blitz aggressiveness in the tactics menu you will find that they can more easily break off their blitz.

So your saying that if they set their tactic to passive that they will hesitate in their blitz to see if its a pass or run or will they still blitz immediately since that's what you told him to do?

From what I remember of the tactic and from what I have seen in its usage, this is pretty much it.

I've got a 100% blitzing aggressive LBer that I only put in when I want him to blitz and I'm reading a pass. When I read it wrong, the LBer will run right passed the HB with the ball and go to the QB. He shares that spot right now for stamina reasons with someone who has a similar build, but who I have set to 10% aggressiveness. They blitz out of the same formation, but the 100% aggressive dot has more sacks, the 10% dot has more hurries, but also makes the tackle on the HB more often.

Are their vision the same?

No, this isn't how the aggressiveness slider works.

The slider works like this:

The closer you are to passive, the more likely you are to break out of your 'blitz mode'. It makes the vision check easier to pass. There is no read for pass or run for a blitzer before they react. They react on the snap and are instantly in blitz mode. From there, they have vision checks for recognizing a run play (and therefore abandoning their blitz).

The advantage to being set towards aggressive is that you get a bonus to breaking blocks. Typically, from what I've seen, there's really no reason for a d-linemen to play anything but all the way aggressive.

And fwiw, the setting has no effect to a player not in 'blitz mode'. Say you have a CB set to cover HB and then blitz if the HB stays in to block. That aggressiveness slider will only come into play once the CB has made the read that the HB is staying in to pass block and he's entered his 'blitz' mode. I see a lot of DCs include the aggressiveness slider in individual tactics recommendations but for most guys it's irrelevant.

Lolo (The Adventures of Lolo):

Their speed is similar, Dog has more agility and tackling, Lolo has more vision and jumping.

this was suggested to me by another user as well.

i have 2 blitzers splititng time at the same CB slot, so I've set one to 100 aggressive and one to -50 passive...will compare the two over a few games and post back here (they've played a couple scrims already, but one was before the season rollover and newest blitz pickup buffs, so not useful to compare.
