I'd like to make a special teams player but am not sure how to get started. What positions are best and what attributes to use?

Not sure if this info is still valid, haven't made a stop in ages.

That's a good starting point, I'm sure someone who knows more will be around soon enough.

everyone makes FF STOPs. if you want to be different, build a blcking STOP and dont use the ST archetype. Build a fast blocker and you can even be useful on offense.
Your goal for a FF STOP is going to be to get the highest combination of speed and strength as you can. Then add in 85+ tackling with 80+ agility. And of course you'll need to stack +% force fumble AEQ along with having +% make tackle. I'm a strong supporter of some block breaking ability as well since you'll have to combat the opponent's back wedge.
Position-wise, SS and the combo archetype are best in terms of majors and SAs, imo.
You can also go DT if you want the added benefit of weight. You'll be less agile out there, but weight does play into FF ability. Just use the combo archetype so you get strength/speed/tackling/vision as majors (so you can really focus on strength/speed/tackling). You'd be making more of a guy for IN4 than any sort of gunner.

Depends on several things. #1, do you want to build a returner (which is a STOP player of sorts) or a regular STOP? #2, how much flex do you wish to spend? #3, offense or defense?
That said, if I am to guess your question correctly, there's always a need for STOP centers. Properly built, they are pretty awesome... and pretty handy.

If you use the Special Teamer Archetype, don't the Majors and Minors stay the same regardless of the actual position? The only difference then would be your available height and weight ranges... and creation cost. And that's why so many people like making STOP Centers... 100-flex creation cost.

Yes. But the other thing is the overall usefulness. A STOP defensive player is useful as a ST player against returns... not as much so when helping on your returns. All STOP offensive players except for centers are useful when you're returning the ball... and slightly better at helping against returns than defensive dots are in the opposite mode (I think this mainly has to do with blocking being slightly more important to returns than tackling is to stopping them). What makes STOP centers the best of both worlds (IMO) is that they (if built properly) are good at blocking for returns (nice back wedge guys!), good for long snapping (which saves the use of a normal center, thereby saving that player's stamina for the offense), and good for the defensive side of stops (as long as you drop an occasional point into tackling now and then). I've built plenty of STOPS but the best success I've had is with Centers. Second choice is FB or TE as they also make great BW's.
