I just rolled a +1% speed +3% Force Fumble piece. If I purchase it, can I upgrade it to a starting +3 speed at a later date as long as I don't equip it nor spend BTs to upgrade it for the level increase bonus? Or do I need to have the spare BTs to upgrade it at the moment of purchase to a +3 piece?

Whatever is on a peice is final. You only want to roll for +3 in the attribute you want peices or 5% in the bonus you want

Just to clarify, if you roll a +3 you can add the 5% to it or if you roll a 5% you can add a +3 to it for BT

Okay, thanks. If i buy a 5% piece do I have to upgrade that immediately, i.e. do I need 50 spare tokens to upgrade the attribute bonus, or can I upgrade it later as long as I don't equip it nor use tokens to upgrade it for regular level bonuses?

You can upgrade it later to add the +3 to the attribute. You can still upgrade it for level bonuses as well. You can upgrade it to add the +3 at anytime and even after it has been fully upgraded to +15%.

+attribute is commonly referred to as a "prefix" and +SAor% is commonly referred to as a "suffix." As long as a piece has only a prefix or suffix and not both, you can add the other whenever you choose. You can equip it, upgrade it, and do anything you want without losing the ability to add that prefix or suffix later. The only thing you can't do is to change a prefix or suffix to something else.
