I think ranked scrims do. Not positive on that.

And yes, Bort uses the "rivalry points" concept to keep well-matched teams together as they rise up through leagues.

Looking through quotes, Catch has said scrimmages do NOT count towards rivalry points.

And for anyone curious about rivalry points and how they work:

It will work with more data over time for sure. You look at every game a team plays, and come up with a score for how close the game was, and save that as the rivalry score between the two teams. If it was within 7, score 3 points. Within 21? 2 points. Under the blowout limit of 70? 1 point. Playoff game gets an extra point. Come from behind in the 4th quarter gets an extra point. Blowout more than 70 is worth zero. Basically, games that are more exciting because they are closer increase your rivalry score. Over time, the scores decrease in case you diverge. When sorting leagues, you try to get the rivalries with the highest scores together. The potential places where this doesn't really work very well: when there's only 1 or 2 leagues to sort. There's only so many spots, and you're going to get teams put in who don't have good rivalry scores with everyone. They'll have good scores with some, but not all. You'll at least see the same teams more frequently, though, as you move up. It's not supposed to address SSB or anything like that in particular. It has side effects of keeping the teams who play each other more closely together, which means you're less likely to meet up with a team who blew you out in the past, but it's not going to get rid of SSB or anything like that. Nor is it guaranteed to make every matchup 100% perfect. There's only a limited number of spots in a league, and a limited number of teams. If we try to spread them out more, you end up playing CPU's. At least a human game is more interesting than playing a CPU.

it would be interesting, especially the extent to which they may explain some of the league assignments that otherwise make no sense
