If you don't understand it, I strongly suggest utilizing one of GLB's presets. AIs are the one thing where if you don't do things right you can pretty much guarantee some losses that otherwise would have been wins. AIs are what gives the user complete control.
Now, this is going to be a bit overwhelming, but I'm going to tell you how most quality DCs setup their DAIs. This is undoubtedly a lot to setup, but once you're set it's more or less tweaking the rest of the way.
The basic premise of an AI is that you create inputs with corresponding outputs. Inputs are only called when all criteria within them are matched. If there are multiple matches within your AI, it will select the one that is listed first.
To make this simple, each input should have a corresponding package. This way when all is said and done when you want to adjust something, you'll merely be able to find the package that you need to adjust. This saves a lot of time loading long AIs and wading through tons of inputs. These packages will contain a series of plays aimed at stopping the particular offense based on your tags. To explain tagging a little more, a tag is merely a personnel criteria that is used in your inputs. E.g. you can have a player tagged as 'blocking' who only blocks when they are on the field.
Likewise, for each formation, you will have a 'generic' which does not use any tags in order to act as a "catch all". Basically, if there are no matching criteria, then you catch all will be the selected input.
K, so your inputs will look something like this
Singleback Spread - Inside 5
Singleback Spread - 3rd and Long
Singleback Spread - Receiving Threat HB
Singleback Spread - Rushing QB
Singleback Spread - Non-Receiving HB
Singleback Spread - Generic
Singleback Trips - Inside 5
Singleback Trips - Receiving Threat HB/Receiving TE
Singleback Trips - Receiving Threat HB/Blocking TE
Singleback Trips - Receiving Threat HB
Singleback Trips - Non-Receiving HB/Receiving TE
Singleback Trips - Non-Receiving HB/Blocking TE
Singleback Trips - Non-Receiving HB
Singleback Trips - Rushing QB
Singleback Trips - Generic
and so forth. For each formation you'll create an input for each possible combination. Yes, this is extremely lengthy and tedious but once you are setup you are pretty much golden as you have a constructed shell that you can easily edit. The only output for each input will be your matching package. This way, when you build plays, you'll know exactly what you are trying to key into.
If I'm building plays for my Singleback Trips - Non-Receiving HB/Blocking TE package, I can relatively safely assume that the team won't be passing to their TE or HB for the play. This can be a huge advantage when it comes to figuring out who to double (or triple) team.

That's a great reply IRWT. Thank you. If only everyone were so helpful to n00bs instead of merely making facetious comments.

Get out of FAQ if you aren't going to help. You can make fun of anyone who asks questions outside of FAQ, but new players need people that are going to help them learn the game, not douchebags who ask dumb questions and degrade them because they don't know as much as you.
