I could swear it's 255, but I have no idea where in the deep dark mists of my brain I'm getting that number from.

None? Or something binary and very large to do with how the database is stored.

255 is the cap on listed scores of a sim. Maybe that is where you thinking of the number 255

Sounds legit.

I've saved over 600BT on a dot before so if there is a cap, it's way up there.

There was a a cap a year ago, but they changed it.

It's been a little while (3, 4, 5, + seasons?) since I saved BT's to buy AEQ but when I did that, I had around 1,000 (+/- 100) saved for that purpose so I suspect there is no limit.
