I'm not going to draw the whole thing here, but just go to the offensive play tool and choose custom progressions. See how you can define which receivers are looked it in an order. NOW add to that a small check box by each of the progressions. This checkbox tells the sim... 'In case there is a blitz, read only these routes with the check box'

As it stands, the QB still makes multiple reads. He gets a bonus (and the receivers on the short routes get a bonus) so that if the short route is read as open and the pass goes here it will more likely complete. But he doesn't completely stop reading the other routes, just makes the decisions faster and without the preference for yardage.

By allowing the OC to put a checkbox indication by a specific dropdown/route the OC can limit which routes are read and thus help the QB make the decision to use their other tools (like running).

It allows for the blitz read to work more like it does in 'real football' where the QB limits their options and does what they are capable of. The present system already is biased against the QB making a run decision/scramble decision and you have to work hard to force them to do this (because the tactics drop downs don't really get the QB to run.. we've all seen the plays where there is a clear running lane, where the QB has the scramble options set, and he never runs)

This just allows OCs a few more options _IF THEY WANT THEM_ without forcing you to do anything different if you don't want to. It adds more to the game, without requiring a huge change.

I personally would like to see the scrambling QB build actually have options that _WORK_ instead of every QB either being a half back with a different jersey number or a pocket passer. Would be nice that guys with the ability to scramble, would have tools within the OC play creation/checkdown designations/blitz spotting/etc that work towards their abilities as well.

+1
Edit: The scrambling needs to be fixed in this game imo

Aren't there tactics the QB can set so he runs the play as usual? I think so

Throw aways still occur for whatever reason, think they have been coded to replace the "bad throws" caused by the mass number of hurries. Not sure if they are considered bad passes so it makes it look like there are fewer bad throws.

Thrown Away is something that we just have to deal with just like hurried passes... the GLB community asked for it somewhere I suppose.

They are ruled:

QB pass to WR incomplete [bad throw]

Most of the time anyway. Even though they really are throw aways, I think it's so at least the QB targeted a WR and tried to get it to him.
