Threads like this and many others in this forum is why this game will die. The learning curve for new people is just so hard. I think anyone who joins will quit within 1-3 seasons.

It was always hard. We learned, so can they.

I'll agree with this

It is also a huge mistake to say that every build should keep spending skill points in the first attribute until 85+.

Every 'help me with my build' thread should have an auto response of "Make your dot really good at one thing."

Not every dot has to be perfect on this game. If every single dot follows the same build plan then this game will be no fun.

Agents should contact their coaches for advice on how to build instead of coming to the forum to get the same 3 'optimal' build plans and then getting people to argue which one is better.

Find a good team to join, people. If your team is organized like it should be, you will have plenty of agents within to help you with your build.

Your not going to get on a good team if you dont have a good build.Too many coaches have no idea what their doing either as they are learning as well. Its important to get your dot started right because there is no going back to fix it.

To an extent. What I like about my basic build guide for .5 dots is that it gets you off to a good start and you decide for yourself how high you want to take attributes.

I have used your guide. I'm not saying it's wrong. I just think a less educated userbase, one that doesn't know about how to gain a Hall of Fame/WL build from day 1, would make this game more balanced overall. The people who know how to build will be superior at first, and new players will have to learn just like everyone else did when they joined in season 2 or whenever in 2008.

personal opinion: if you're new to the game, cap speed first or you'll pull all your hair out watching HB beating you to your block for the next 5 seasons.

All I can add is this. Someone who is a much better builder than I said (and I agree with him) that once you hit level 72 any speed (including EQ boosts) above 135 is kinda wasted on a FB. I believe this was said with the thought that the FB would be used much more as a blocker/receiver out of the backfield rather than a runner. If you really plan on building a receiver/runner for a FB, then speed probably should be much higher (like HB or WR levels). Also, keeping with the "blocking" idea as main thought, agility over 100 is important (with or without EQ boosts) as agility is what gets your FB going quick enough to get to his block before the HB runs past him.
That's all I got.

Personal opinion, do this and your player will be utter crap for his whole career and you'll retire him midway in disgust for having followed this advice.

Never, and I do mean NEVER cap a minor attribute first.

That is completely false. Speed and agility both go into acceleration, and the speed component is powerful enough that even three times as much speed than agility accelerates just fine (although it turns like a tank). You want agility in the 80s for a blocking FB by the end build, but I would not go 90+. In general you don't need the FB to hold a block for very long, you just need them to win the initial blocking role (blocking attribute) and pancake defenders when possible (strength).

Yeah, if someone wants to go speed first on a FB then they need to pick an archetype with speed as a major.

We grew with the game though. It was easy that way, we have had 30 seasons of practice. New people coming in, there is just so much. GL to them.
