Ok i know this has been tracked and tested in the past but has anything changed? has someone tested this in recent few seasons? i am interested in getting max Break/ shed block chance without killing myself in AEQ. i know some VA SA and AEQ all have skills that add % chances. the skills AGI and Blocking both also state they help break block. so before i add blocking to my RDE i want to know am i truly wasting training time with it or will i see some benefit ?????

I've a few defensive Dots that have blocking skill and what holds true for offensive Dots seems to hold for defensive. Hit the 4 cap for decent blocking, anything lower is unreliable. 5 cap is usually dependable.

No defender should have blocking at all unless your experimenting with a STOP. Your DE needs strength, agility, tackling, and speed.

Back in season 3 or 4 Bort was quoted as saying blocking helped break tackles...so I ,along with many others, added some points in blocking on our defensive linemen. Total waste of time and SP. Would have been just as well to have put them in kicking.

Bort is going to say anything that keeps a wide variety of dot building happening.

Just because it says Blocking helps with breaking blocks doesn't mean Blocking helps A LOT with breaking blocks.

If you are absolutely, completely out of other things to spend SPs or training on, I could see starting to work on Blocking on a DE, but I highly doubt you'll ever reach that point. There's always going to be something better to train on, and if you run out of Attributes to spend Skill Points on, there are plenty of SAs that would be better to put points into than Blocking.

So, yeah... it's technically true that putting points in Blocking will help you break blocks, but it's a tiny, tiny amount of help at-best, and thus not a good idea at all.

In the original guide by digital daggers he had this listed for DT/DE's

Blocking : DTs are not frequently called on to block, so this is not a high priority skill. However, if your DT finds himself in a blocking situation, blocking will help him engage and hold his blocks longer. Also, knowing how to block will help your DT shed blocks a bit easier.

It's no longer listed in the old wiki, the link to it in this forum is gone i think so i had to look elsewhere. But this is where the idea came from originally. But as mentioned, it's likely that any amount of blocking you put into a defensive player wouldn't possibly help enough compared to increasing your primary, or even secondary, attributes.

or even thirdaries. Stamina, jump, hell I would put carry on them before block (barring a ST role, if said defender also played on special teams returns then yea, I could see it....maybe)

When reading this I am thinking you are speaking strictly about AEQ purchases and not adding SP's to blocking, right? If so, be sure to scout the VA's for complimentary talents towards this goal. Now I add to that the following suggestions for AEQ pieces you are considering;
Break Blocks (5% is best) 75 BT's to purchase if you don't get it as part of the piece.
Shed Blocks 18 BT's to purchase if you don't... ect, ect...
Strong Base 18 BT's

Skills that will help you are Strength and Agility.

VA's you should consider are;
(General abilities)
Stonewall. Not really big on breaking blocks but does help in making sure you don't get pancaked as much (which is as bad as not breaking a block.)
Clutch (a general "catch all" VA that helps various skills and abilities in clutch situations, including breaking a block to make a play.)
(Defensive abilities)
Bull Rusher (Must be 245 in weight)
Heavyweight (must be 225 weight... lets you pancake your blocker when you do break the block)
Pass Rusher (limited to 3rd and 4th downs and only when rushing the QB)
Pocket Crusher (must be 245 weight and must set for "power rush" in player tactics)
Technique Man (you need at least 10% more agility than the dot blocking you to trigger effect... also you need player tactics set to "evasive" in pass rush)

Also, if you really ARE considering putting SP's into blocking, I agree with the posts above. Not only a waste of SP's but I seriously doubt it will help you very much to make the SP's spent worth the effect garnered.

would you put break block% on an O-linemean?

think of it that way

Only if the O-lineman in question is playing BOTH sides of ST's, otherwise it's a waste. And I get what you're saying about putting "blocking" into a defensive player... again, only if that defensive player is playing BOTH sides of ST's... otherwsie it's a waste of SP's.
