It's like trying to come up with a single defensive play that can't ever be cheaply exploited but that doesn't stop every play for a 2-yard loss. Such a SINGLE play does not exist. That's why, from the get-go, Bort has always given the defense multiple plays to use. Sure, it would be easier for Bort to just give the defense one play to use, but y'know what? It sure wouldn't be as fun. And if OC's ever figured out how to break that one defensive play, then the game would become utterly pointless.

Right now, Bort keeps trying to give the offense just one blocking scheme to use. And DCs keep figuring out how to break that one blocking scheme, so then Bort just switches what that one blocking scheme is. And DCs figure out how to break that one scheme, and Bort switches to another scheme -- again, just one at a time. And DCs keep figuring out how to break them.

If Bort gave us 5 blocking schemes to choose from, even if DCs figured out how to break all 5 of them, they'd still have to put in the effort to scout each opponent and figure out which blocking scheme they'll probably use, and OCs would at least have the option of switching up the blocking scheme from game to game to try to throw DCs off.

Y'know... JUST LIKE IN FOOTBALL.


The insta block/pick up blitz thing can be handled with builds. Just need to make them matter more. Include some penalties with VA choices would be a way to go so that along with a bonus to run block you got a penalty to pass block. It wouldn't be anything new to the game, the tactics are already set up that way.
