Goal line formation is where TEs and FBs should really get a chance to shine. But there is not a single pass play to a TE in the goal line playbook. All there is are screen passes to the HB and FB.
I have seen several agents express disappointment in Power TE sim performances. However, Power TEs in the NFL are at their best in short yardage situations like the goal line stance. Breaking two or three tackles while making a catch and gaining just 2 to 5 yards can be the difference between scoring 3 points or 7 points. This is what the Power TE is designed for. So giving us TE pass plays in goal line formation gives us a way to better utilize the Power TE skill set. He's meant to be a 3rd down short yardage beast who also has a chance of breaking open a big play. He's made for this situation.
This is the kind of thing that made TEs like Mike Ditka, John Mackey, and Mark Bavaro great. In more recent seasons, we've seen it with players like Gronkowski and Gates.
It's time to show TEs some love - give them the chance to score from the goal line stance.
