I've been experimenting with this the last few seasons with DTs built to deflect passes.

one thing I've noticed is a high % of passes that are what I guess you'd call "tipped"--that is the DT gets credited with a PD but the ball is still caught at much higher rate of completion that when a LB/DB deflects a pass.

Anyone else ever experienced/noticed this? I don't have a big enough sample size to know for sure, but perhaps this something in the coding? I couldn't find anything in the Wiki about there ever being a Q&A question about this

I see 20% caught (1/5) the other ball caught was only a hurry.. It very rarely happens that a pass deflected by D-line gets caught, much less often than a ball deflect'ed by other defenders. It's kinda odd that it goes for an 11 yard gain, but probably it was just a very low quality deflection.

I scrolled through the dots other replays and there's only one other deflection caught (for 3.5 yards, which is reasonable) so no idea why you think this happens ALL the time.

yeah, 40% my bad, but as a general observation, not just that one dot, and not saying ALL THE TIME, just more than for DBs/LBs and wondering if its coded that way.

found 17 deflections for that dot-- 9 were "clean" (deflected an otherwise catchable ball/not on a bad pass) and two of those were caught, so roughly 20% of catchable balls are caught after deflected and like 12% of all balls after deflected. Even that, to me, still seems to me like more catches than when a CB deflects a ball. Again, I don't have a good sample of a mature DL deflecting balls. will look for one in upper leagues and repost if I can find. my gut says there is something different about a DL deflection and a DB deflection though.

If you have interest you can watch my team's replay.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=74
All my D-line, except pass rush DE, have maximum towering man.
And I don't remember opponent catch the ball deflected by D-line.
