My Running back has about 51 speed and Agility, Strength, Vision, Stamina are all 22 or higher and confidence is 20...

Meanwhile, a RB on the same team has a speed of 83, agility at 22 and everything else is 15 or below but his "rushing rating" if 6 points better than mine?

I understand speed is important to a RB and 83 speed is crazy for a lvl 9 but still...

Whats the point of the rest of the atts if just speed trumps a balanced yet speedy RB?

Sounds like he is properly building his HB for the long haul.

83 speed is where an elusive back should be around that level. If you raise any other stats other than your main stat before it hits at least 81 you are doing it wrong. Search around, there are some decent build guides around. You don't balance out your player until later in the career.

I know where you're at. It is how I felt when I very first joined GLB and thought this was the "smart and correct" way to build a dot (which is to say, keep it balanced). Thing is, with each passing level-up, it becomes harder and harder to move a skill upwards... so it becomes VERY important to attack your primary skill as much as possible while you can. Your dot might out-preform the other dot right now... but in a few seasons down the road, you'll be left in the dust by those that sacrificed putting points into their secondary and triciary skills to maximize their gains in their primary.

How would making him more balanced now hurt him as compared to boosting up one att at a time?

Meaning, if I just start placing all of my points into speed to get it to a 80, all my other stats are equal and I start with the next most important whether it be agility or vision?

Look up softcaps and ALGs on GLB Wiki. It'll take a while for you to understand but you'll realize it's the right way to build long term.

The best explanation I can give you is this (and please know I am not nearly as knowledgeable on this as some others are).
The way the dot build engine is currently set up, it's like trying to run up a hill that continually gets steeper. At first you can make decent headway, but with each level passed it gets harder and harder to make gains. Since each dot has a primary skill, secondary skill, and so on... then, because that skill (the primary) is THE most important, then it becomes imperative that you get that skill as far up the mountain as you can EARLY in the dots career because you will not be able to do so later as well as you can now. Which means that your dot will fall behind those that build their primary up to the max. That "falling behind" situation doesn't seem like much now because. even though you're building 'balanced-style', your dot(s) are still fairly even with the other dots around you at lower levels. Once you hit higher levels (like 30-to-40), then you'll start to really see the difference between your dot(s) and others of equal level. By the time you get to level 70 and above, your dot simply will not preform good enough to be rosterable by virtually all team owners... simply because it can't compete against the other dots. I know this because, as I said, I did this at first when I started GLB. When I got to level 35, I couldn't get anyone to contract my dots because they just weren't good enough... so I got a little pissed and signed with a CPU team just to show them they were wrong. I retired those dots after that season because I learned... they were not wrong. I'm just trying to save you some flex because you never get all of the flex you spend back once you invest it into a dot.

Yeah, if you're spreading skill points around to various attributes while your player is young he will play better than his counterparts. Problem with that is in doing so he will not be able to get his primary attribute high enough to be able to compete at the higher levels.
