It seems some plays when you have someone on the weak side with HB weak and someone on the strong side with HB strong as the man coverage, neither player will go after the HB. The catchall cover HB seems to work.
Forum > FAQ's, Player Guides and Newbie Help > Are all HB and FB plays supposed to be labelled as weak or strong?

Apparently no one knows. lol
I've been baffled by this as well. From what I've seen on replays the weak/strong only works for passing plays where the HB/FB runs a route. I could be entirely wrong.

What I'm seeing is when the HB or FB goes right up the middle no one covers if set to weak or strong.

Are you sure you don't have a coverage progression like:
LB1: HB Weak -> FB Weak
LB2: HB Strong -> FB Strong
And when both the HB and FB go weak (or strong) you end up with an open player?
I don't think I've had the issue you're describing.

I always assumed it was what side of the C that the route was determined the coverage, so there would be no true middle. I don't recall a time that would prove different.
I have seen defenders to run twords the RBs while in the backfield and have trouble making the hard cut when the RBs run by them, leaving them wide open. That may just be a low level problem.

There used to be a problem with the FB coming straight upfield and pulling both FB strong & FB weak defenders, but I've never heard of it causing both to ignore the FB.
There is a Strong-I play that has HB going straight up middle that used to cause this.....think it might have been fixed but I am not entirely sure. Also pretty sure the author of this thread created that play

Yes. I did make that play.
The play I'm talking about is out of the 4WR spread formation.

No, it is 4 WR. I've got the SS on strong and the LBer on weak, one of them blitzes if not and the other one goes into a zone if not.
