Ok, I'm really not trying to be a jerk but trying to be helpful.
He's never going to be an elite, World League caliber dot and there's nothing you can do at this point to make him so. He does need more agility, but it will be too damn expensive to make that happen now. You might be able to get him to a decent Natty Pro or pretty good Regional Pro team where he'll probably do pretty well as a run stuffer, if you would enjoy that. If you want to keep him going, I'd take tackling up to 81 ASAP, then work up Speed some and take stamina and confidence to 60.
If you want to start one over, you need to concentrate on putting SP into one att at a time until you reach the cap that you want for that att. I'd do strength first and take it to at least 84, better 86, before you put even one SP anywhere else. Multi-train the top 4 atts for the first few seasons, at least. I'd do agility second and take it to 81 at minimum. Tackling third for a NT to 77 or 81. Speed is next most important, IMO, followed by vision, confidence, and stamina, in about that order. Some people like to try and train jumping to about 40 near the end of the build, helped by a few SP to get towering man (if he's at least 6'3"), but not all DCs agree with that. That is something you'd need to think about at player creation, though.
This is exactly what I did. I took STR to 86, the AGI to 78, then TKL to 68 (I think). Then I took VIS to 68, then SPD to 68.
So I pretty much did exactly what you said above except I took VIS up before SPD. I even took them to the same caps. So how is this build that much different than what you are recommending? He has been on multi-train his whole career also.
There are a few small differences between what you recommend and what I did. I will look at that for next time.
Then it sounds like you got the process right, but other than strength, you didn't take the next few to high enough caps is all. I think that's what makes it look like a build where things were capped willy-nilly, even though that's not actually the case. Like I said, this isn't a horrible dot, but WL is likely not an option. I think he can be effective at the Pro level if you want to ride him out. I'll be fair and state that I've made that very same mistake myself with the majority of the dots I've created before the last couple of seasons!
