i watched a couple more teams trying to recruit this offseason. seems like the majority of players either went to the d leagues (there are teams full of players from the same few agents) or to the easiest leagues that they could find.

i understand for some, the lure of building massive stats against weak competition some how gets them excited, but i thought that this game was about trying to be the best. when people brag about their stats, i just laugh at them when i see how many of those stats are against bad teams.

i suggest giving players a carrot in order to actually play with the big boys. as such, i propose that VAs are linked to the league that you are in.

d leagues get 0 VA pts at every level and only preseason, regular and post season (playoffs and scrims) games would count
university and below (couldnt remember when we now hit 25) - 1 for every 6 games
reg and nat minors - 1 every 5 games
semi pro - 1 every 4 games
regpro - 1 every 3 games for players for players under 69ish or in decline. 1 in every 4 games for any other players
nat pro/wl - 1 for every 2 games

if people want to be whimps and play at lower levels than they should be at, stop rewarding them. these are the people that are making glb be way less fun than it should be.

in a way I sort of agree but on the other I do not want anyone dictating where I have to play the game and how I have to do it. If I get a offer from a crappy team in a lesser league and also a offer from a team in a elite league. I usually give precedence to the better league. but then I look at the owner and the GMs that run the teams.

for example Guppy if I had a player at the National Pro level and I got a offer from a team you GM but it is in the worst league at that level. and then I get a offer from lets say Yello1 but he is in the best league at the level. I would then sign with you simply because of the knowledge I have of the owners.

why would you penalize those who already have bad builds (which is why they cant hang in the good leagues)

hmmm I like the OPs thoughts.

But the two negative responses have merit as well.

Particularly the Rich Get Richer angle.

Maybe if you tied it to the players average player value and worked it as a bonus instead of a penalty?

bad builds are bad builds. by the time they get to the upper levels, a few VAs arent going to make them into good builds. its more about those with good builds that make the choice to play in the lower leagues just to build stats. i dont even understand the whole stats vs crappy teams mentality. is any one impressed by 1000 yard games against cpu teams? and i agree that no one likes to be told where to play and this isnt going to force anyone to play somewhere, but if you want max benefits, you should be doing whats best for the game, and that is to have the best players at least in the Natpros.

if yello had a team in the top league and i was in the bottom league, i would be investing in thermal undies as hell must have froze over....lol. ok, that one was just to easy to pass up.

Its sad that the elite leagues are not actually elite at most levels, otherwise, we could have the elite leagues earn at the level one step above them. like a reward for not gaming the system.

whether its called a penalty or a bonus, its really the same. I think of it as rewarding the players who play w/i the system, and not as a penalty to those that play the system. when a buddy pointed out a couple pro d league teams consisting of multiple players from just a few agents, i wonder what the hell the purpose of winning a d league was to these people. shouldnt the players playing in natpro be getting something better than those that play in the d leagues?

I know but the mental impact of carrot versus stick is much better with the former. Your players wont feel attacked but rewarded.

Bad idea. Teams in tough leagues lose out at the lower levels if they don't win.

Unless perhaps they get them back if they move up. Otherwise the player is permanently screwed.

this really would only affect players in plateau and players that choose to wuss out in the D leagues. the wuss players probably will never come back to real leagues and regardless of getting a few extra VAs or not, they will build plenty of stats against cpu players. if your team is playing at a low level regpro, then the same concept. if you are already a well built player, you are either trying to prove your worth, or just stat whoring against the worst competition that you can find. players in the 50 and 60s wont be affected by this at all.

are people really in favor of the best plateau players beating up on crappy teams in reg pros?
