do you look strictly at numbers (particularly declining numbers) or effective level (eg. lvl 52/33 or 62/12) and if so how low does the effective level have to fall to before you decide to hang up the jersey?

i ask because i am conflicted with my offensive linemen. i can typically just keep sending them out there season after season (on CPU teams of course), granted with little to no effect, just for the sake of it. why retire them, that's the question i've been asking myself. i can understand with positions such as running back where the will lose yardage every year and their career numbers would fall if you keep them out there too long.

Either when I can't use them or when I'm not having fun with them.

Either when I see vastly better players at the position or need the flex.

Whenever I remember that I am the one that built them and realize that they will always be terrible.
