Yes Attributes give us a rating of 1-whatever, but typically 2 or more Atts work together to do something in the game. So why not give us some metrics to use as a measuring stick of our players. Each metric would represent a drill that real football players would perform when trying out for a team - we'd just be able to see them at a glance on the player's page. The drill would have a formula that would include a few of the player's Attributes, plus his Ht/Wt/SAs/VAs when applicable.
This would be fun for agents since they'd get to see the changes as their players grow, and good for team owners as it would provide another way to evaluate talent when recruiting.
These are the drills that the NFL uses at their combine to evaluate players:
40 yard Dash: Speed, Agility, Weight, plus maybe Vision (a moment's hesitation at the start can have a big effect on a 40 time)
Bench Press: Strength and Stamina
Vertical Jump: Jumping, Height, and Weight
Broad Jump: Jumping, Weight, and Agility
3 Cone Drill: Agility, Speed, and Weight
30-yard Shuttle: Speed, Agility, Weight, and Stamina
60-yard Shuttle: Same as 30-yd shuttle, but Sta has bigger role
Then we could use a few others to fill in gaps for other skills:
Blocking Sled: (time to drive it 10 yds) Blocking, Strength, Agility, Weight, Height, and Stamina
Sled Pull: (100 yd sprint pulling 1/2 players weight) Speed, Strength, Stamina, Agility, and Weight
Power Blast: (the thing on the right - http://www.rogersathletic.com/content/sleds/powerblast/images/powerblaster_1.jpg) Strength, Carry, Speed, Weight, and Agility
Jugs Machine: (# of catches/100 passes) Catching, Vision, Carrying, Height, and Jumping
I'm sure there's others we could think of too, to help measure things like a DE breaking blocks, a punter's average distance over 10 punts, a kicker's max range, etc.
