So, I was thinking of starting a pee wee gold tourney for this season if anybody is interested. I will take 8 teams from each league and then they will be ranked from 1-8. Then I will make 4 groups of 4 teams consisting of 2 teams from each league. The rankings will probably be decided by a combination of factors including recent playoff success and regular season records in addition to experience in gold. The groups will be split like this:

A:

West #1
West #8
East #4
East #5

B:

West #2
West #7
East #3
East #6

C:

West #3
West #6
East #2
East #7

D:

West #4
West#5
East #1
East #8

Is anybody interested?

Interested Teams:

West:

East:

"Hardcore" Gold Test Squad- http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=6944

Also, if anybody would like to make a nice 1st and 2nd place trophy for this, that would be greatly appreciated.

Is there actually no interest in this? I feel like this would be a great addition to the league and forums and a chance for gold teams to play more competitive games. I'm taking sign-ups, and I would be willing to change the format to double elimination if less games is better.

#1 PWG isnt what it once was. I remember when teams who came into gold had a STEEP STEEP learning curve to get on the same level as the top tier teams. I haven't even been playing that long and i can see that. TIA the REAL TIA, BEARS, SBWL, Devils Advocates FG and MAINE to name a few.. you didn't come into gold and just hang with these teams.. you got your ass beat for months trying to get your sim to a level that could compete. There were teams that would poop all over 75% of the teams in gold in silver at that time. STBP another great team i forgot about.

#2 Nobody has any interest to play the same teams they play over and over again anyways. Pee Wee is dying... its becoming more and more apparent.

I agree, I don't think there would be much interest in a PWG tourney. However, with a lot of teams going the NBNC route, I think an all PW league NBNC tourney might be fun as there would be a lot of teams that could join that one.

+1
Should add that NBNC Rookie teams (if those even exist...) would be eligible as well.

My team snuck into gold only two seasons ago and we've managed to compete with just about everyone since stage one. There are still plenty of very adept teams and everyone still boosts like crazy. I've played this game off for years, good owners and agents tend to come and go, people have lives and it takes a little bit (a LOT if you're developing DAI/OAI and managing 20-55 dots) of work/knowledge to be competitive in gold. I also think being able to apply football knowledge to the format of this sim isn't easy and does take a fair amount of intelligence and creativity to make it work.

We have to make lvl 1 dots the most complete players they can be in one season. In my opinion, it's takes more work and skill to formulate a gold caliber team and succeed in gold than say it is to win in some AA or higher leagues. A lot of those leagues are even more weak/filled with CPU teams than some bronze/silver pee wee leagues I see. World league is world league, and high level dots are extremely diverse and hard to recruit unless you've been involved with the game and have a large network of agents to work with. Working with high level dots is a completely different spectrum than what we do here in pee wee.

I'm not tired of seeing the same teams in gold. I personally think the shuffling of teams out of silver is a good idea and keeps things fresh, and keeps good teams competing with good teams, and keeps less experienced teams learning/developing that way. I love seeing the teams and owners still playing this game that I saw back when I was helping run teams back in say, S17. The biggest problem I see is the lack of knowledge sharing with people new to the game. If you want PW to "live" again and to be legitimate, we need to start sharing knowledge with the new owners/coordinators coming into gold, teaching them to build somewhat properly without removing their own ability to be creative on their own. Not only that, resources for recruiting is difficult for new players who might struggle getting involved with say, the "player marketplace" and the forums.

LordEvil and Gerr are prime examples of people who have gone out of their way to make the pee wee environment more successful and fun on many occasions that I've seen personally. I wouldn't be able to have made competitive teams without some of the knowledge they've shared with me over the years. We should all take the example they've set and help the new fish learning AI, contribute dots to teams that can't field rosters, organize drafts, write guides, etc.

Sorry for dropping a novel on your tourney thread, Gerr.
KC Chaos would be more than happy to participate in your tourney man, assuming I'll even be able to fill my roster this season, ha.

I was just trying to liven up gold a little bit. However, if there is not interest, that's fine. I doubt this would change anything, but I would give the winner a 500 flex donation.

I would love to see a peewee vs. rookie type tourney. Our builds and coordinating vs. their level advantage. Chips on shoulders from both sides I bet. Maybe something like the old silver vs. gold tourney.

I decided to go the rookie route after along time here in PW. Im enjoying the game again as you see the dots progress and each season of change. I think the Rookie VS PW tournaments would be very interesting if they happened late in the season or post season (Day32+). Since the Rookie players are building long term and PW players are polished, this dynamic would be interesting. The only problem with getting this to happen is PW owners are the same, season after season. The rookie owners do like i did, move on towards the pro's..then return after approximately 10 seasons. The problem would be finding rookie owners interested season after season, since they will always be different.
