This idea might help in recruiting if you were allowed to sign players that will be free agents after the season to contracts that start next season in advance. This would make recruiting easier as it could be started during the season and people wouldn't forget or change their mind about which team they are committed to for the next season.

Dancing with an agent over a player is the whole point of that aspect with the game. Suppose I sign one of your "pre-contracts", then get a better offer from a better team or a buddy makes an offer on my player? Can you give an agent an iron-clad gaurentee that EVERY owner would willingly let a player out of the "pre-contract"? My guess would be no, as it is uninforcable now. Suppose I sign a "precontract" and find out you've been less than honest about your team or are a jerk? This is already happening and to lock up a player with your "precontract" would screw a player even worse than what happens now.
Work harder on you negociating skills and quit trying to circemventing the system.

You could just offer it as an option, not binding. Would work on players already on your team, too, for contract extensions.

You could just offer it as an option, not binding. Would work on players already on your team, too, for contract extensions.
