not really cause rolls are won based on the builds, so the better the build, the more likely you are to have one of these favorable rolls.

then why say this?

We just need a tweak to the rng calculation to allow big plays to break every now and than.

Just tweaking the RNG to make stuff happen doesn't make the game better. Differences in attributes should matter MORE than they do now...and whether you can see it or not you are arguing to make differences in attributes matter less.

I am under the impression he is referring to the better builds being the ones having these "big plays" every now and then.

Because I sure hope he is not suggesting to have "smh builds" to have these "big plays" at an equal occurrence.

Its a dangerous habit to judge the quality of the sim by judging final scores only.

True...but most 54-21 games are something like 18-21 or 24-21 going into the 4th...and were really good games.

That sucks even worse when you can do everything right for 3 quarters but teams built to play just one quarter win a whole game.

Its also ignoring reality to pretend final score does not affect enjoyment level.

Fun games are the ones you do not leave early.

Not trying to be personal here but I just know these teams play soon.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=241&team2=5799

This type of matchup needs to be a 50+ point blowout. If manipulate the sim and the RNG so that games like that one are close...then it becomes a pure luck of the draw when two evenly matched teams play.

Thats why you can't base things on the final score. Some teams SHOULD be getting beat by 100+ points so that even matched teams have balanced games with an even sim.

I said my original statement because dots with better builds aren't winning the rolls they should be. idk how to explain it better, but if the Best HB in the came comes up against the best LB in the game, hands down the HB is going to not go more than 4 yards almost every single play.

there are no big plays unless it's just a blown coverage or something. there is no explosiveness in the sim anymore.

the only way to really fix it without adjusting the code, is to adjust how the rng works

Smaller teams, more leagues and better grouping of the teams by a better league system. Throw in a round robin style season schedule where we play teams twice, home and away.

Stale game is stale. Beyond fixing IMO.

I'd love it if they just got away from the realism crap. Bort got some terrible advice from some people who really didn't understand the pulse of the game and it has resulted in them trying to make the game look realistic in the box score even if it means cutting down on the enjoyability of dots.

Ideally I'd love to see a sim (assuming that coordination is even) where elite dots versus elite dots still put up stats not too far from the norm. When elite dots play average or below average dots they should put up cartoonlike numbers. No matter what I'd like to see big plays occasionally from every dot. CBs getting pick 6s, DTs getting sacks & FFs, HBs breaking off 20+ yard TD runs, QBs threading the needle to WRs for big plays that result in TDs, special teams dots scoring and forcing fumbles.

Overall I'd rather have games with inflated scores where teams can score in all three phases of the game and make highlight style plays more frequently than we have them now.

EDIT: This was better off in GLB main than here in suggestions. Admins at least occasionally pop in to GLB main, I can't remember the last time I saw one in suggestions.

One problem with elite dot's beating average dots. What if the elite dots were run by an average coordinator and the average dots were run by the best in the game.

Bolded the critical part of my post.

Let's review a bit: in the first couple of seasons, there was no advanced Ai and we all played under casual rules, then the OAi was developed and the beginning of the offensive domination phase began, first in Islam, then in passing. DCs were up in arms as we had huge scoring games with lots of offense and, believe it or not, exactly the type of game you're now suggesting as there were also defensive and special team plays happening. Now, it's really important to note, that in S8-10 or so, while all these changes were implemented, we were all still building our first dots and they hadn't matured yet (WL started in S11), so the programmers were making changes to the sim based on players who weren't all the way built yet...

So, maybe, just maybe... did they have it right near the beginning and they listened too well...?

QFTMFT!!!

Cart before the horse syndrome. To bad this was skipped over in the thread... O_o
