I like your overall idea, just want to add a few things.

I agree with 4 team captains, however it should be: 1 Offense, 1 Defense, 1 Special Teams, 1 Optional.
Also, in order to be named a team captain, you must have played with the team for at least 2 seasons (become eligible during your third season with the team).

Also, the bonuses should be small, nothing big or else it will cause problems. Just something small and fun for us users.

Lastly, there should be recognition for players who have been named captain (maybe not so far as a trophy, but some sort of distinction)

Me either. I'd be fine with it but at best a minimal increase.

Maybe a 5% to confidence or something like that.

love the idea, but idk if having a minimum of 1 season requirement is good because players in real life get named captain all the time without a season or 2 (jay cutler, drew brees, ect)
