building an instant dot would help solve so many of glb player shortages. do it kinda like the free player rules. instant dots would also be a reason for people to stay that hate the amount of time it still takes to build a player from level 1. especially since so few care about the 1st 75% of a player's career.

Install the VPB onto GLB and run the build that way.

Bort mentioned awhile back that he liked the idea of creating a dot at a specific level. But I think with the whole APD changes it's way less likely to happen now.

Building Dots at the pro level is the only way to make the SIM work. Can't have the code that has end build dots working and think it will work for dots at lower levels. It's why they are always chasing issues.

GLB gets its money either way, so if people are willing to build dots at specific levels and bypass the boring leveling process which even with the APD still takes like 13 real life months to plateau... 280 dot age + (16*7 (offseason)) =392 total days until a dot hits level 79... thats insanely slow... STILL.

Either way GLB gets its money from from the flex it takes to build the dot, no win/loss there, refunds still at 70% of creation cost no win/loss there. Plus it would help weed out all the crap teams from Pro with teams that should be able to compete slightly better.

What might be interesting would be to sign a CPU dot and be able to assign the SP available to that level. There would be no training and no equipment. Dot could level through the season and owner could continue to assign those 5 sp.

Thoughts?

Yes, build a dot.

Instead of creating a dot from day 0, what about the option to be able to build one that is similar to the level of a CPU dot. Only difference is, this dot could be of any age up to a certain point. Say you need a blocking tight end on a University team, but there are none that are available or up to you liking (need to be retired).

Rather than signing a CPU dot, you could use flex to purchase a build-a-dot. Each dot would cost more flex incrementally, and would be limited to let's say 3 per team.

Not sure what would come of the dot after the season, as I am just coming up with the scenario as I can think of it. Hopefully through some dialogue this can be vetted a little more to see if this is probable or even worth the effort.

But maybe the dot would be like "Pinocchio", and in the following season would be your own dot for an extra amount of flex. My personal opinion would be to have this as a one season dot that would expire after the season is over.

No trades allowed, no benefit other than being able to fill a roster without having to resort to a CPU or "need to be retired" dot.

I know I am not the only one that has thought about this.

First, I can understand not having any dots up to your standards.... but an owner has to decide whether a below-par human dot or a CPU dot is the way to go. That's part of the game. In real sports and in real life, people occasionally have to rely on others that are not as adept as themselves. If an owner wants everyone and everything to be "perfect" to them, then that person can join a network (or a better one), or make a full team themselves.

Hence, never make a suggestion... because of the above comment

As for relying on others, others can donate flex for the owner to BUILD-A-DOT (call it a build-a-dot flex-raiser)... Ding!

Thanks for that suggestion, very well done.

This may be the best example of lack of context I have ever seen. How do I make a clapping emoticon?

Edit: I figured it out.

I actually don't like this idea in a vacuum. There needs to be some kind of reward to building dots from the ground up. If the "insta-dots" have a lower SP value than the average players of that age, I would support that. That's the one issue here: mixing instant players with those that have put in the time to do it the hard way.

To enhance on this suggestion...why not have a CPU dot builder? Obviously they would have a lower total value than most players of the same age, but at least you could cater them to your needs much better...
