Don't know if the OP's exact idea is the way to go, but I'll +1 finding SOME way of automating the initial Eq. I'm all for anything that makes player creation less tedious.

27 keystrokes to buy eq for a new player after you get to the eq page. any wonder why people sometimes forget to equip a piece or accidentally buy the wrong piece? what clown thought this was a good design?
